WordPress is a popular blogging platform nowadays. Every hosting service providers provide WordPress hassle free single click installation. Users can build verities of blogs and websites using this platform. Basically, WordPress is a CMS (Content Management System) platform, So, users feel very easy and free to manage their content with this platform. There are lots of plugins are available to arrange your contents and over the frontend website and build it eye catching.
To install WordPress in local system is very-very important to manage and modify your content, in straight forward you should use testing environment before the change or modify your content on production or live system. Users can validate required configuration for theme, plugins, widget, add-ons etc before implementing on the live system.
Here, I explained a way to install WordPress on the local system using WAMP server. Users can follow the below steps to install WordPress on WAMP Server:
Download and Install WAMP & XAMPP Server
Step 1: First need to download WAMP server to make your system as a web server. You can download WAMP server from here. You will get the download link on front page of this page on scroll it as below image.
Or, you can use XAMPP server also, it has same functionalities. You can download XAMPP server from here.
Step 2: After instaling WAMP server in your system you need to start WAMP. When WAMP server will start you will get WAMP server icon in your system taskbar’s right side icon box like below image.
Step 3: You should click on this icon and choose to “phpMyAdmin” option for appeared menu.
You will get the phpMyAdmin dashboard, you need to go to the “Database” option.
Creating Database for WordPress
Step 4: In the “Database” window you need to create a database which will use by WordPress. To create database fill the database name and click on “create” button, like below image:
After creation of database you will get notification as “Database <database_name> has been created”, and your database name will appear in database list like below image:

Step 5: Now the terms to download WordPress, you can download WordPress from here. The package of WordPress will download in zip format.
We need to extract zip packet by using any of zipping application like WinZip or WinRAR etc.
After extraction for package you will get one folder with the same name of zipping package like below image:
You can check inside of this folder, you will get WordPress application files here, like below image:
Step 6: To install the WordPress you should copy the WordPress folder and paste into the WAMP directory at the primary drive of the system or at the location of WAMP installation.
Under “wamp” folder there is one another folder with name “www”, this is the destination folder where you need to copy your WordPress folder like below images:
Step 7: Now the time to start the installation process of WordPress CMS. To start the process you need to open the WordPress directory URL in the browser. Above mention the “www” location’s default URL is http://localhost, and “WordPress” directory is under the “www”, So “WordPress” directory’s URL is http://localhost/wordpress.
Now, you can open the URL http://localhost/wordpress in your internet browser, you will get the screen like below image, where you need to choose the language for your website and click on “continue” button to start the process.
In the next screen browser will give you a notification to prepare database name, database user, database password, database host etc. If you haven’t created your database then first create a database for your WordPress application follow the step 3 and step 4. If you have all required information then click on “Let’s go” button for further process.
Step 8: In this screen, you need to fill the information about the database like database name, database user, database password, database host, and table prefix and click on “submit” button to go next process.
In next screen you will get information about all given parameters for the database is validated successful and the system is ready to install the WordPress. To start the WordPress Installation click on the “Run the Install” button.
Step 9: Now WordPress installation process will ask for the site information and admin user and password for website administrator. You need to fill this form with required information and click on the button “Install WordPress”.
In the next screen, you will get the successful installation message with “login” button. You need to click on this button to get the login page for your website.
You need to fill the correct username and password which you have set at the installation time for website administrator username and password and click on the “Log In” button.
After login you will get your WordPress admin dashboard like below image:
